S wave Velocity Structure of the Crust and Upper Mantle Beneath Shanxi Rift, Central North China Craton and its Tectonic Implications

چکیده

The Shanxi rift is located in the central part of North China Craton (NCC). With strong tectonic deformation and intense seismic activity, its crust-mantle deep structure have always attracted wide attention. Using teleseismic events observed a dense network 610 temporary 127 permanent stations NCC, we obtained S wave velocity structures by joint inversion method receiver functions surface dispersion data. Our results show that crust thickens northern (41 km) thins southern (35 km). Taiyuan Linfen basins, part, high-velocity zones lower upper mantle; beneath Yuncheng basin south, there are low-velocity uppermost mantle (30–80 km); Datong basin, rift, exhibits range anomalies middle to mantle. We speculate destruction NCC associated lithospheric thinning had significant impact on but still early stage which retains most craton features. An upwelling asthenospheric magma occurred western basin. horizontal deflection flow causes surrounding area, consistent with LAB topography.

Crust and upper mantle discontinuity structure beneath eastern North America

[1] Crust and mantle discontinuities across the eastern margin of the North American craton were imaged using P to S converted phase receiver functions recorded by the Missouri to Massachusetts Broadband Seismometer Experiment. Crustal structure constrained by modeling Moho conversions and reverberations shows a variation of Moho depth from a minimum of 30 km near the Atlantic coast to depths o...

Shear-velocity structure of the crust and upper mantle beneath the Tibetan Plateau and southeastern China

S U M M A R Y This paper addresses the velocity structure of the crust and upper mantle beneath southern China with special emphasis on the Tibet region. Waveform data from 48 earthquakes as recorded on the WWSSN and GDSN are used in this detailed forward modelling study. Constraints on the upper crustal section are derived from modelling local Love waves in the time domain applying the mode-su...

Three dimensional shear wave velocity structure of the crust and upper mantle beneath China from ambient noise surface wave tomography∗

We determine the three-dimensional shear wave velocity structure of the crust and upper mantle in China using Green’’s functions obtained from seismic ambient noise cross-correlation. The data we use are from the China National Seismic Network, global and regional networks and PASSCAL stations in the region. We first acquire cross-correlation seismograms between all possible station pairs. We t...

P-wave velocity structure of the crust and uppermost mantle beneath Iceland from local earthquake tomography

The structure of the crust and uppermost mantle beneath Iceland, the keys to understanding the magma plumbing system of the hotspot and hotspot–ridge interaction, was poorly constrained in previous seismological investigations. Here we develop a three-dimensional P-wave velocity model of the Icelandic crust and uppermost mantle from tomographic inversion of over 3500 first-arrivals from local e...
